There's been a new State of Play show announced for later today (September 24, 2025), and with many unknowns surrounding upcoming exclusives like Wolverine and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, I'm hoping for some big reveals.
Since the series of shows began in 2019, Sony has used the State of Play presentations to reveal big-hitting games and details such as the initial reveal of Saros, debut gameplay footage for Death Stranding 2, and more. So, it's always worth tuning in to the State of Play live streams if you want to be alerted to any big announcements for new PS5 games.
Following the release of the PS5 Pro console, all eyes have turned back to the next State of Play - a new console will need new games to play on it, after all, even if it is a mid-gen refresh machine. Here's what we know.
When is the next Sony State of Play?
The next State of Play airs on September 24, 2025 at the times below:
- East Coast (US): September 24 at 5PM ET
- West Coast (US): September 24 at 2PM PT
- United Kingdom: September 24 at 10PM BST
- Europe: September 24 at 11PM CEST
- Japan (Tokyo): September 25 at 6AM JST
- Australia (Sydney): September 25 at 7AM AEST
What was revealed at the last Sony State of Play?
The last Sony State of Play event aired September 3, 2025. This was focused on 007: First Light, showing off extended gameplay for the first time. Here's what was revealed:
- Release date: March 27, 2025
- Pre-orders are now available for three editions, including the Standard, Specialist, and Legacy Editions
- Pre-ordering the game ahead of the March 27, 2026, launch date will guarantee you a free Deluxe Edition upgrade
- 30-minute gameplay session
What can we expect from the next Sony State of Play?
We don't know exactly what'll be shown at the next State of Play. I'm hoping to see more on Marvel's Wolverine, which we still haven't had an update on since it was revealed. Then there's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, the next game from Naughty Dog, which we know very little about presently.
What we do know is that the show will last 35 minutes, and will feature 5 minutes of Saros gameplay. Here's how Sony has described the event:
"We’ll share new looks at anticipated third-party and indie titles, plus updates from some of our teams at PlayStation Studios – including an extended look at Saros, Housemarque’s mysterious new title arriving next year. Look forward to nearly five minutes of gameplay captured on PS5."
